It's A Scaw-tcha

Holy Moly! It's a scorcher over here in good ol' NJ.
Outside temps are around 92' - around a record for late May in these here parts.

And can you see that? IN my apartment it's 86'!!!! Yikes.

This afternoon I went to Trader Joes and picked up some summer time essentials:
organic strawberries and sparkling pink lemonade.

While standing at the checkout, I had a big pile of things in my arms (I only went in for "just a few things" but you know how that goes!); the strawberries were sitting on top of everything else, nearest my chin. As I waited in the looooongest line at 1:30 in the afternoon, the scent of the strawberries came waifting up to my nose and a big smile came over my face.

Ahhh, fresh delicious warm ripe strawberries.
Pure Bliss.

Now that I'm home I've shared about 6 glasses of ice water with the poochie (yes shared: one ice cube for me, one for him, one for me, one for him - a knocked over glass here, another there. What is with the hot weather that makes me so clumsy? Oh, and tired. I'm home with lots of housework to do and ZERO motivation to do anything but veg. out.)
(my thoughts exactly)

Also, we're having company tonight.
Dustin's sister (The Graduate) is staying with us a few days while she goes into NY on business. For her arrival dinner tonight I'm thinking teriyaki chicken kabobs with red peppers, sweet onions and pineapple. Also, a side of garlic broccoli and a gorgeous, tasty spinach-whole wheat couscous. Yum!

Hmmm, this sounds slightly ambitious considering my current climate.

Clean the house? Make dinner?
Did I mention its 86' in my apartment at this very minute???

Perhaps I'll cook tomorrow.
