Piermont Farmer's Market

What you see before you is one of my favorite places to be on a Sunday morning in the summer.
Piermont Farmer's Market
It's super small, situated in a parking lot just steps away from the gorgeous Hudson River (seriously people, sometimes its just damn gorgeous looking over the water at the cliffs and bridges)
Every year the same ol' peeps come around:
Meredith's Bread (they have great homemade dog treats, chocolate explosions - they really do explode, and spinach quiche. Yum.)
Pika's (spinach & goat cheese empanadas, pico de gallo, pesto)
Bread Alone (need I say more?)
a butcher stand (fresh, organic and free range)
a winery (try the riesling)
nuts and peanut butter stand (hazelnut spread anyone?)
a dairy stand (cheese please)
three vegetable stands with every beautiful fruit or vegetable that's available for summer (it all looks good)
Of course, it wasn't until I uploaded the pic to my computer that I noticed the massive construction equipment in the background. But never mind that, you can see how mesmerized I was by all of these luscious greens and cute as a button signs.

I love looking at beets. I don't really eat beets, but I think they're beautiful.

We left our visit to the farmer's market this week with two beautiful red and juicy tomatoes, scallions, cilantro, pesto, dog treats, broccoli, red peppers, apples and one melt in your mouth empanada. Since then I've been on a cooking rampage despite the 90'something degree heat in NJ.
I can't help it!
It seems to be such a luxury to have all of this fresh produce at my fingertips after a loooooong North East winter.

oooh la la Summer.

I believe our yearly love affair is just beginning!
