(our living room, circa summer 08. Gone is the red couch *sadly* and also gone is the lava lamp *not so sadly*.)OK, so I have a confession to make:
I have a slight addiction..
..to TV that is.
Over the years I've tried to deny it,
I've tried to withhold it,
I've overindulged
and just recently I came to terms with
my addiction.
Oh, how I love TV.
It is calming and relaxing,
suspenseful and thrilling,
warm and romantic,
all in under an hour or so.
I truly do love TV.
But I realize that being addicted to the boob tube 5-7 nights a week is just so cliche that I have religated myself to just a few shows that catch my eye.
My TV schedule? (C'mon, you know you have one too.)
Oprah daily.
Sundays - Kendra (its an indulgence)
Tuesdays - Biggest Loser & 19 Kids and Counting
Thursday - Greys & Private Practice
Fridays - Ghost Whisperer
See??? Not that bad for an addict.
Who am I kidding? It's bad, but it could be worse.
Anyway, the reason I got on this topic is because now that it's June all of these shows have closed for the season - not to be back again until September. And I do breathe a little sigh of relief; its nice to have some free time in the summer to do as I please (of course I could also have this in the winter, but there is my addiction calling. I could give up many things but Greys Anatomy - no matter how bad the writing gets - still calls my name ever so sweetly.)
So from June - August I catch up on Netflix. There are TV series on there and I've recently gotten into TrueBlood, Dexter and Californication. Tonight I might throw on some stream direct to your tv '30 Days' with Morgan Spurlock. This week I'm expecting The Lovely Bones and hopefully It's Complicated (long wait.) I'm thrilled to finally get to see all of those 2010 Oscar nominees and winners. Last night we saw Avatar - I loved the environmental angle.
So now that I've told you mine, what are your secret addictions? Those things you can't live without?
